November 27, 2024
Hi everyone,
We hope you’ve had a great summer.
As we move into autumn, the Executive of the CBC PNA Golden Horseshoe Chapter is focusing on our annual Holiday Luncheon and Annual General Meeting.
It will take place on Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2024, at the Burlington Convention Centre.
All the details so far are in the attached edition of the Sept. 15, 2024, edition of the Golden Horseshoe Chapter UPDATE newsletter.
Door prizes are starting to roll in and chief among them is a staggeringly generous donation from Chapter member, Peter Mansbridge. He’s providing a pair of platinum Leafs tickets for the December 12 game against Anaheim: Section 121, Row 6, Seats 7 & 8. That’s not all: Peter is also donating signed copies of three of his best-selling books. Thank you, Peter!
There’s more: Jay Mowat is once again donating several bottles of his sought-after artisanal maple syrup. Thank you, Jay and Clare!
Champagne Floral Designs of Mississauga is donating an arrangement of flowers and a gift certificate for the second year in a row. Thank you, Caroline Simpson and Charline Durant!
That’s not all. The Stratford Festival, one of our perennial supporters, has indicated it will again donate two tickets for the 2025 season. Ontario Region Vice-President Talin Vartanian won the tickets last year and writes about the play she and her husband saw in August.
There are many more door prizes in the pipeline. We will be adding to the list in our upcoming newsletters in October and November.
One of the highlights of this year’s gathering will be a special guest speaker: PNA National President Dan Oldfield. As everyone knows, Dan is the person most responsible for securing our shares of the CBC Pension Fund surplus. He’s the one who negotiated the deal with the Corporation 15 years ago and when the CBC wanted to cancel it in 2019, Dan led pensioners and current employees to a sweeping victory in a lengthy arbitration. Thank you, Dan!
Don’t delay – buy your tickets now.
Warmest regards,
The Golden Horseshoe Chapter Executive:
Bob Waller, President
Marie Clarke-Davies, Vice-President
Cindy Beatty, Treasurer
Bridget O’Toole, Secretary
Toni Tosti, Director
David Knapp LVO, Immediate Past President
