EAP Resources Centre
The EAP provides confidential information and professional advice to CBC pensioners and their spouses. You can contact the EAP 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and receive support for a variety of issues, including:
- Depression and anxiety
- Family or marital problems
- Financial or legal problems
- Addiction (alcohol, gambling, substance abuse, internet)
- Elder care
- Physical health
- Interpersonal conflicts
The EAP provides up to a maximum of five hours of counseling. When you call the EAP, you are referred to a counselor and your appointment will be scheduled based on your availability and the urgency of the situation. He or she will work with you to assess whether your situation can be resolved quickly or whether to refer you to other resources in your community for further assistance. If you are referred to resources outside the scope of EAP, charges may apply. In such cases, contact your insurer to find out what type of coverage you have and whether those charges can be reimbursed.
For financial and legal counselors, a maximum of two hours applies. The program is designed to assist with problems or crises. The EAP is not a substitute for a financial advisor or lawyer so legal services are restricted to consultation – not representation – and financial counselors do not make specific investment recommendations.
