The date for the next pension surplus payment is anticipated to be November 4th. It’s expected that plan contributors will be able to view their own pension statements as of the week of October 20th. The payment is part of the surplus generated as of December 31, 2024.
The payout comes as a result of an agreement reached between the Pensioners National Association, CBC’s Unions and the Corporation. At the conclusion of each calendar year, the plan is evaluated. If the assets of the plan exceed a certain threshold, a surplus is declared which sets the stage for the payout. The individual amount of the payout varies and is based on the contributor’s total contributions to the plan.
