The National Board of Directors met recently to take stock of this past year and chart our course forward.
These meetings are how we make sure the PNA stays strong, relevant, and truly focused on what matters most to our members across the country. The Board refreshed our mission, vision and values (https://www.cbcpensioners.ca/mission-vision-values/), along with our strategic objectives (https://www.cbcpensioners.ca/strategic-objectives/).
Our national committees have been busy. Here’s what’s been happening:
Communications Committee
The team is making good progress on the 2025–2027 communications plan. The Board has approved a fresh new brand identity launching in January, along with a redesigned website that will be much easier to navigate. The committee is also working to make our newsletters, digital content, and educational materials even better.
Membership Committee
We’ve reached 6,000 members, a milestone that reflects the strong recruitment efforts happening in regions across the country. The membership committee continues to work hand-in-hand with regional reps to keep communication and outreach strong. Once our new branding launches, the committee will roll out updated brochures and materials to help us connect with future members.
Equity, Diversity & Inclusion Committee
The EDI committee is putting the finishing touches on the PNA’s new EDI Guide — an important step in weaving equity and inclusion into everything we do. This guide will be a go-to resource for regions and chapters to help ensure our events and communications welcome everyone.
Advocacy Committee
The advocacy committee is carrying forward the PNA’s core mission: protecting pensions and supporting quality of life for seniors. Coming off recent federal election work, the committee is helping shift us from responding to issues as they arise to being a proactive voice on seniors’ concerns, public policy, and member wellbeing. To support this effort, the Board approved a pilot project to partner with a public relations firm with extensive experience on Parliament Hill.
Bylaws Committee
The Board approved updates to reflect our move from a triennial convention to a Leaders’ Forum, along with new additions that establish processes for resolutions and bylaw amendments. These changes are now in effect and will be presented to members for discussion and ratification at the 2026 Annual General Meeting.
Engagement Committee
The Board approved the creation of a new national committee focused on getting more members involved in the work of the PNA. This committee will develop ideas to strengthen the Association, share the workload more widely among active members, and build a succession plan for leadership roles.
We’re seeing solid progress across the Association and heading into the year ahead with strong momentum.
