SUPPLEMENTARY HEALTH CARE PLAN PREMIUMS REDUCED

Beginning January 1, 2026 health care plan premiums for the retired CBC employees will see a modest decrease in most Provinces and Territories. The rates will vary as plan benefits are linked to provincial coverage.

The premium cuts follow discussions between the Pensioners National Association and the CBC.  While overall costs have increased slightly, we have been able to offset those costs and provide a slight reduction in premiums by using surplus from past years.

The SHCP is entirely funded by user premiums and is jointly administered by Canada Life, CBC and the PNA.

While about two-thirds of seniors in Canada do not have a post-retirement healthcare plan, we are fortunate to have one that provides a wide range of benefits at an affordable cost.  Keeping those costs at a reasonable rate is an ongoing challenge.

Details of the new rates are available here.
